Our Story
In 1993 REBOUND, Inc. (Rebuilding Our Urban Neighborhood Dwellings) was created to increase community development and neighborhood revitalization. REBOUND was formed as a non-profit, cooperative effort among the Louisville Urban League, the City of Louisville, and Main Street Realty, the private real estate firm of the late David A. Jones. The initial goal was to build and sell 90 quality homes in the historic Russell neighborhood.
Recognizing the need and desire for homeownership in West Louisville, REBOUND envisioned this initiative as a goal to positively influence residents living in the westend communities. Since the beginning of REBOUND in the early 90’s, we continue to acquire underutilized land and abandoned properties; transforming them into safe, sustainable, and healthy homes. Our commitment to remain influential in the growth of affordable housing and home ownership continues to be proven that when opportunities are presented to stabilize lives dreams can be achieved.
REBOUND’s belief to foster authenticity and support human connectivity are deliberate steps we take to strengthen communities. We believe that inclusivity allows residents to feel a sense of belonging in their communities. As we continue to structure our organization with strategies to ensure that we are practicing inclusion, we view our progress through a racial equity lens that we believe paves the way for change.
Building Community for 30 Years and Counting
For more than 30 years we have been responsive to the emerging need for stabilization in West Louisville. REBOUND continues to be instrumental in creating a space where individuals and families are given the tools and opportunities needed to own a home. Our feedback and results have earned us a reputation as the leader in Affordable Housing among Louisvillians.
Our Values
We are passionate about fair and equitable access to affordable housing. At REBOUND we strive to eliminate barriers that prevent marginalized communities from developing by valuing individuals with respect and dignity.
Our Mission
To revitalize neighborhoods in low-to-moderate income households and create vibrant, stable, and inclusive communities for individuals and families seeking homeownership. Our compassion lies within efforts to close the Racial Wealth Gap from economic inequalities.
Our Partner
We are proud partners of Louisville Urban League, a nonprofit community service organization committed to eliminating racism and reducing its negative impacts on our community. Through our partnership, we have been able to provide affordable housing opportunities to black communities and help marginalized individuals and families achieve their dream of becoming homeowners.
Additionally, our solutions have elevated the standard of living of thousands of people in the black community. What’s more, our partnership with Louisville Urban League enables us to offer several HUD-certified education courses to equip first-time homebuyers with the information they need to take the next big step towards homeownership.
